We are seeking a qualified and skilled Carpenter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of hands-on trade experience, strong attention to detail, and proven skills in measurements, calculations, and plan interpretation. This role involves a range of structural and finishing tasks across residential and light commercial projects, including outdoor builds and refurbishments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine materials, dimensions, and installation procedures.
  • Carry out accurate measurements and calculations for layouts, fittings, and assemblies.
  • Order, prepare, and manage timber stock with a focus on sustainable material use.
  • Construct and install frameworks and roof structures, ensuring alignment and quality finish.
  • Build and install decks, pergolas, and gazebos, from layout to completion.
  • Fit, prepare, and install doors and door frames (internal and external). Refurbish and repair existing timber structures and fittings to meet safety and aesthetic standards.
  • Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures including framing, partitions, doors, windows, flooring, etc.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant work site at all times.
  • Work safely on residential and commercial building job sites.
  • Use good problem-solving skills to carry out tasks that may be non-standard.
  • Maintain effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, subcontractors, and colleagues.

Preferred Skills and Attributes

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in residential or light commercial carpentry. Proven technical construction experience.
  • Precision in measurements and practical on-site calculations.
  • Strong ability to read and apply building plans and technical drawings. Ability to communicate effectively with other trades (such as framers, tilers, and gyprock installers) and plan work accordingly.
  • Experience with decking, pergolas, or similar outdoor timber projects.
  • Commitment to sustainable work practices and efficient material use.
  • Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent qualification. White Card, valid driver's licence, and own tools preferred.
