Caboolture QLD, Australia Kurbingui Youth Development Ltd Full time $85,000 - $95,000 per year

About Us

Kurbingui Youth & Family Development is a proud Aboriginal-Controlled Community Organisation (ACCO) based on Turrbal Country in North Brisbane, Yuggera Country in South Brisbane and Gubbi Gubbi Country in Moreton Bay, with programs and services expanding across South East Queensland.

For over 20 years, we've been walking alongside our community – supporting families, young people and individuals through our many programs, which include: Family Services, Social & Emotional Wellbeing, Employment & Training, NDIS Support, Crisis Intervention Programs, Youth Justice & Bail Diversionary Programs, Family and Child Connect, and a wide range of cultural and community programs.

At Kurbingui, we believe that true impact happens when people feel seen, supported and empowered. We're not just building programs – we're building pathways, opportunities and stronger futures for our community. As we continue to grow, we remain grounded in culture, guided by our values, and driven by a vision of connection, empowerment and lasting change.

Kurbingui is recognised as a leading community organisation in Brisbane, trusted for our commitment to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander families, young people and communities.

Our programs and services are built on cultural knowledge, respect and partnership. We are proud to be a respected and reliable voice in the community, and we continue to grow so that we can reach and support more people across Queensland.

Joining Kurbingui means becoming part of a movement that is strengthening culture, creating opportunity and making a difference every day.

About the Role

The Cultural Coordinator is a central role within the Staying on Track program, ensuring that cultural identity, connection, and community remain at the heart of reintegration and support for young people transitioning from detention or at risk of re-entering the justice system.

In this role, you will walk alongside young people and their families, strengthening cultural safety, identity, and belonging through the delivery of cultural activities, mentoring, and community connection. You will coordinate cultural programs, engage Elders and cultural mentors, and embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge and practices into all aspects of the program.

The Cultural Coordinator works closely with Youth & Family Practitioners, FLDM Practitioners, and partner agencies to ensure that each young person's Service Response Plan is culturally grounded and responsive to their unique strengths and kinship systems. You will also act as a cultural advisor within the team, supporting staff to practice with cultural integrity and confidence.

The position is varied and dynamic, involving a mix of cultural program facilitation, family and community engagement, and participation in case planning and decision-making processes. This role requires someone with strong cultural knowledge, excellent relationship-building skills, and the ability to inspire young people to embrace their cultural identity as a foundation for positive change.

This is an opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, reducing recidivism and supporting them to thrive through strong cultural connections, family involvement, and community-led pathways.
