Hancock Energy has a full time opportunity for a Senior Drilling Engineer to join a growing team supporting onshore oil and gas projects throughout Western Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for well engineering, design and technical integrity aspects of well construction projects and ensuring the safe and efficient execution of the projects.
  • Provide well design based on sound engineering fundamentals
  • Documents all technical standard deviations, well design and procedural changes using the MOC process.
  • Ensures that project risks are identified, communicated, mitigated, and engineered to ALARP.
  • Develops well design documentation, drilling programs and associated documentation.
  • Prepares and presents content for, or participates (as required), in well design and assurance reviews, operational reviews, risk assessments, HAZIDs and operational reviews.
  • Prepares all regulatory permits required to obtain Government well integrity related approval for assigned wells.
  • Prepares technical scopes for and evaluate tenders. Acts as technical representative for certain contracts.
  • Supports day-to-day well operational activities including but not limited to operational/trouble-shooting support, daily report review, time and cost tracking (including performance actual vs planned tracking), logistics planning etc.
  • Provide operational support to the Drilling Superintendent during the execution phase of a well construction project.
  • Conducts project close-outs including but not limited to; well hand-over documents, resolving invoice discrepancies, reconciliations, EOWRs, AAR's, and estimated final costs.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong individual contributor - Responsible for delivery of own results to support Hancock Energy achieving its goals
  • At least 10 years' experience as a Drilling Engineer in the oil and gas sector, preferably onshore in active operating environments (drilling, testing and exploration).
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related discipline or significant lived experience.
  • IWCF Level 4 - Surface BOP
  • Diligent and passionate with proven experience in working within a small team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and open communication skills.
