We're looking to grow the Trike team and build our capabilities and talent. There's about 24 of us working between our Melbourne studio, workshop and homes. We may not be the biggest, but pride ourselves on our strong and talented team of designers and engineers. Trike's culture has an emphasis on in-studio collaboration to create an agile and effective environment; this allows us to continuously produce the high quality results we take pride in. At Trike, we try to remove some of the murky areas of design, creating meaningful and intentional design with tangible results for our clients and consumers.

You at Trike

You are a seasoned mechatronics engineer with experience across a range of market segments. You are passionate about technical design, enthusiastic and curious, with a drive for high-quality, on-time results. At Trike, you'll lead client projects from concept through to production, with particular focus in back-end technical delivery. You show initiative, take responsibility and take a client-first approach to problem solving.

Along with a mechanical mind you also bring experience in electronics and software. You have a mechatronics background, or on-the-job experience with system integration, or just enjoy tinkering with electronics and software in your own time. You have a deep understanding of how electromechanical elements come together in a product and can collaborate seamlessly across disciplines. As part of the Trike team, you seek advice and collaborate with your peers often, and actively look to support the team whilst managing your own time and priorities.

At Trike, we care about our team's progression and where we can improve as a studio. Trike conducts bi-annual reviews to track your progress and our progress as a company.

About you:

• 7-10 years experience in similar or relevant roles (consulting).
• Degree qualified Mechatronics Engineer / Product Design Engineer (PDE) or similar (but with electronics skills and experience).
• A solid understanding of the product development process, delivering projects from concept to production.
• Strong 3D CAD modelling skills (Solidworks)
• Great communication skills (sketch, written and verbal).
• Good time management with the ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• An ability to autonomously work in and lead small teams, embracing a small team culture.
• Hands-on electronics prototyping and coding ability (C/Python).
• Experience with Adobe suite preferred (InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop).

Your usual week at Trike:

• Detailed design and prototyping on a wide variety of products, able to take ownership of subsystem development through to overall product tech lead.
• Liaising with external electronics and software teams (client-side and external consultants).
• Providing electronics and software support to the wider Trike team.
• Regular client meetings.
• Providing input to new proposals.
• Celebrate Friday by joining the Trike team for pub lunch or a late afternoon activity.
