Design Engineer

About the role

An opportunity exits for an Experienced Design Engineer to join our rapidly growing team. This is a full time position for an immediate start. Reporting to the Design Engineering Coordinator, the role will be based in West Footscray.

You will be responsible for efficiently assisting the Design Engineering Coordinator with Miepol Designs for contracts.

Your will:

• Scope, investigate, define and prepare project plans for designs and investigations
• Manage the preparation of Civil Design Plans, specifications and estimates for a range of Civil design projects
• Review all design documentation prepared and ensure that it is correct to a high degree of accuracy, suitable for construction and in accordance with all relevant standards
• Ensure documentation and plans are prepared in accordance with standards, legislation and are compliant with Miepol's quality processes
• Undertake technical investigations and prepare reports on a range of civil design projects
• Investigate, document and prepare applications for statutory approvals
• Effectively liaise with Public Utilities and other Authorities, Clients and other stakeholders, regarding engineering and other matters related to works and provide response in a timely manner.
• Understand the requirements of the contract for the client
• Maintain knowledge of policies, current best practice and challenges in Civil engineering design
• Undertake inspections of construction works and post construction reviews to confirm compliance with design documentation and recommend areas of improvement (as required)
• Assist the Senior Design Coordinator to ensure all project design work is kept within the budget, profitable and meet the contractual requirements
• Provide assistance to other Engineering design staff as required to achieve effective team work, highly motivated staff and a strong customer focus
• Demonstrate a commitment to excellence through own continuous learning, personal & professional development
• Develop and maintain an excellent relationship between Miepol and the Client and stakeholders, with a strong customer focus
• Have an understanding of HSEQ in general and comply with and ensure that all Miepol HSEQ policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Attend client meetings for which the role is responsible (as required)
• Act in a responsible manner and be always a role model by displaying personal behaviour that is aligned & supports Miepol company values

To be considered for this role you must have the following :

• Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, minimum of 3 years' experience
• Demonstrated experience in Civil engineering design and construction with a strong emphasis in the design of civil infrastructure
• Demonstrated project management experience coordinating consultants to deliver multiple projects that meet strict deadlines, budgets and deliver identified outcomes
• Experience in applying relevant legislative, statutory and industry standards in relation to civil engineering design
• Demonstrated experience investigating, analysing and resolving difficult design problems
• Proficiency in the use of Civil infrastructure design and project management software applications like AutoCad Civil 3D (mandatory) and Microsoft Project.
• High level written, interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to relate to a diverse range of stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to present accurate, concise and timely reports on relevant matters
• Construction White Card and Valid Victorian Drivers Licence
