Wangara, Western Australia Perth Solar Force Full time $100,000 - $120,000 per year

Group Financial Controller / Head of Finance (with CFO Pathway)

Perth – Full Time

About Us

We're a WA-owned group of businesses that's grown from a single solar company into a multi-entity enterprise with big ambitions.

· Perth Solar Force – one of WA's largest and most recognised solar retailers, completing thousands of installs every year across residential and commercial projects. Known for our scale, in-house install teams, and reputation for quality, we're a market leader in WA's renewable energy sector.

· Solartech Distribution – our wholesale and logistics arm, supplying panels, inverters, and batteries to retailers and installers across WA. With multiple warehouses and a strong supplier network, we keep the industry moving with reliable stock and competitive pricing.

· Unplugged Energy – a lean, fast-moving brand focused on solar + battery packages and innovative partnerships. Built for agility, Unplugged explores new markets, products, and customer models, including collaborations with major WA organisations.

· Aquasure – our newest venture, expanding into water filtration and home efficiency solutions. Aquasure is positioned to bring the same growth trajectory we've achieved in solar into another essential market, giving households healthier, more sustainable living options.

Together, we employ around 100 staff, run multiple warehouses (Wangara HQ, Bunbury, Geraldton), and have delivered more than 30,000 solar installations to date.

We're not slowing down. The WA battery rebate and Federal programs have created huge demand, and we're scaling rapidly – doubling installation capacity, building new divisions, and investing in future industries. Our long-term vision is to grow 4–6 strong, dividend-paying businesses under our parent company, diversifying into energy, distribution, and home efficiency markets.

What sets us apart is our culture. We're entrepreneurial, decisive, and not afraid to do things differently. We back our people, embrace new tech, and move quickly to stay ahead of the market. Finance is the next big piece of the puzzle – which is why we're looking for a senior finance professional who can bring oversight, systems, and insight across the group, and be a key part of our next growth phase.

The Opportunity

You'll sit in the parent company and oversee the finances across all group entities. Starting with Perth Solar Force, you'll deep dive into systems, clean up reporting, and build the financial framework that supports growth across the group.

Nothing is off limits – we want a fresh set of eyes to review our businesses, identify gaps, and recommend changes that will make us stronger, leaner, and more profitable.

This isn't a typical accounting role – it's a chance to lead finance for a growing group of businesses spanning energy, distribution, and water, with all the complexity and challenge that comes with scale. You'll also have the freedom to challenge the way things are done, bring new ideas, and directly shape the financial future of the group.

In this role you will:

· Oversee consolidated group reporting, with separate P&Ls for regional operations (Geraldton and South West).

· Manage intercompany allocations and ensure each entity is profitable and sustainable.

· Leverage offshore finance staff (for reconciliations, AP/AR, debt collection, data entry) and oversee accuracy and efficiency.

· Implement strong financial controls, forecasting models, and tax planning processes.

· Build clear KPI dashboards showing profitability, margins, and overheads.

· Advise directors on pricing strategies, rebate scenarios, cost reduction, capital allocation, and profit improvement.

· Prepare the group for future restructure opportunities, standalone P&Ls, or new company setups.

About You

We're looking for someone who can roll up their sleeves and deliver, while also being a strategic partner to the directors. You'll work closely with the General Manager, Sales Manager, and leadership team, providing the numbers and insights that guide decision-making across the business.

You will have:

· CA or CPA qualification.

· years in senior finance roles (Financial Controller, Senior Accountant, Finance Manager).

· Proven experience with multi-entity or group reporting.

· Strong technical skills in forecasting, tax planning, compliance, and controls.

· Hands-on experience leading or leveraging offshore finance/admin staff.

· Commercial acumen to analyse costs, margins, and pricing to drive profitability.

· Proactive and trustworthy mindset, with ambition to step into a CFO role over time.

What Good Looks Like

· Within 3 months you've built separate regional P&Ls so we can clearly see how Geraldton and SW are performing.

· Offshore staff are working efficiently, with you setting up checks and balances so errors are caught before they become problems.

· Directors, the General Manager, Sales Manager, and leadership team are receiving clear monthly reports that highlight not just numbers, but insights – where we're winning, where we're leaking cash, and what to do about it.

· Forecasting is reliable and decisions about rebates, pricing, and capital allocation are backed by solid numbers.

· Costs are under control, margins are improving, and you've already flagged new opportunities for profit growth.

· You've established yourself as the go-to finance lead for the group, trusted to give straight answers and sound advice.

What's in it for You

· Full oversight of a diverse and fast-growing group of companies.

· Direct access to owners and decision-makers.

· A clear pathway to a future CFO role.

· The chance to make a visible impact through better systems, reporting, and profitability.

· The freedom to bring fresh ideas and challenge the way things are done.

How to Apply

Apply via SEEK with your resume and a cover letter outlining:

· Your experience with multi-entity or group accounting.

· An example of a system or process you've overhauled.

· How you've used financial insights to reduce costs or improve profitability.

· Your expected salary for this role.
