Contract Opportunity – VMware to Oracle KVM Migration Specialist

Sydney CBD | Immediate Start | Iconic Australian Organisation

We're seeking an experienced
Infrastructure Engineer / Virtualisation Specialist
to lead a critical migration project with one of Australia's most recognisable organisations.

You'll play a hands-on role in driving the migration of VMware workloads to Oracle KVM across a large enterprise environment. Expected 6 month engagement

The Project

  • Over
    30 sites nationally
  • Migration of
    ~300–360 VMs
    from
    VMware (vSphere / vCenter / ESXi)
    to
    Oracle KVM (Oracle Linux Virtualisation Manager)
  • Each site built on
    2-host clusters with shared storage
  • Standardised design across all sites for repeatability and scale

Experience Needed

  • Proven background in
    VMware migrations
    (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, clustering, HA/DRS)
  • Strong knowledge of
    KVM-based virtualisation
    (Oracle KVM / OLVM, libvirt, qemu-kvm)
  • Hands-on use of
    virt-v2v
    or similar tools for VM conversion/migration
  • Linux administration
    skills (Oracle Linux, RHEL, CentOS)
  • Experience with
    shared storage (SAN/NAS, iSCSI, multipath)
    in clustered environments
  • Ability to plan, document, and execute
    migration runbooks
    at scale
  • Strong troubleshooting and stakeholder communication skills
