About the role:
Proxmox Cloud Engineer
:
Experience Required:
Minimum 5 years in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, with at least 3 years hands-on experience in Proxmox VE.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned
Proxmox Cloud Engineer
to design, implement, and manage scalable virtualization environments using
Proxmox VE
and related technologies. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in KVM, LXC, Ceph, ZFS, and cloud orchestration, and will play a key role in maintaining high availability, performance, and security across our virtual infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and deploy
Proxmox VE clusters
for production and development environments.
• Manage virtual machines (KVM) and containers (LXC) across multi-node clusters.
• Implement and maintain
Ceph-based hyperconverged storage
and
ZFS
file systems.
• Configure and optimize
networking
(VLANs, bridges, Open vSwitch) within Proxmox.
• Perform
live migrations
, backups, and disaster recovery planning.
• Monitor system performance and ensure
high availability (HA)
and fault tolerance.
• Automate provisioning and orchestration using
Ansible
,
Terraform
, or similar tools.
• Integrate Proxmox with
Proxmox Backup Server
,
Datacenter Manager
, and other tools.
• Ensure compliance with
security policies
, including firewall rules and access controls.
• Collaborate with DevOps and IT teams to support CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native workloads.
• Provide technical documentation and training to internal teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in virtualization/cloud infrastructure.
• Strong hands-on experience with
Proxmox VE
,
KVM
,
LXC
,
Ceph
, and
ZFS
.
• Proficiency in
Linux system administration
(Debian/Ubuntu preferred).
• Experience with
networking concepts
: routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs.
• Familiarity with
monitoring tools
(Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix).
• Scripting skills in
Bash
,
Python
, or
Go
.
• Knowledge of
automation tools
like Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet.
• Understanding of
cloud-native technologies
(Docker, Kubernetes is a plus).
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Certifications:
• Proxmox VE Certified Engineer (if available)
• Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC)
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
• Ceph Foundation Certification
