About the role

Are you an experienced employment relations professional ready to take the lead on complex and meaningful ER matters? Join the Diocese of Parramatta's friendly and professional People & Culture team and play a pivotal role in shaping respectful, collaborative and mission-aligned workplaces across our community.

As Senior Employment Relations Advisor, you will be the expert voice on all things ER/IR across the Diocese. Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, this role provides high-level advice and leadership on matters such as:

• Complex performance management, grievances, investigations, and dispute resolution
• Change management, restructures, redeployment and terminations
• Drafting and reviewing employment documentation, contracts, deeds and outcomes
• Coaching and mentoring managers and clergy to navigate people challenges confidently
• Representing the Diocese in external forums such as conciliation or Fair Work matters

This is a role where you'll have the scope to influence ER strategy, embed best practice, and help build a strong, values-driven culture that reflects the mission of the Catholic Church.

About you

We're looking for a confident, trusted advisor who can balance compliance, fairness and compassion. You'll bring:

• Demonstrated expertise in managing complex ER/IR cases
• Strong stakeholder management, mediation and conflict resolution skills
• High levels of discretion, integrity and emotional intelligence
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to draft complex correspondence
• Tertiary qualifications in Law, HR or a related field
• 8+ years' experience in employment relations, industrial relations or employment law
• Experience in Catholic or religious organisations (highly desirable)
