Primary objective
Responsible for developing and implementing housing construction projects across multiple remote communities across the Big
Rivers Region with the positions based in Katherine.
Context statement
The Housing Program Office is responsible for delivering a 10-year remote housing program, Our Community. Our Future. Our
Homes. Across 73 remote communities that will deliver new houses and additional living spaces with a focus on local decision-
making. An additional $432 million has been committed over 8 years to prepare land servicing and essential services to support
future housing works. When combined with Australian Government funding, the joint investment of $2.1 billion will make
significant inroads to improving the living conditions of remote Territorians.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Plan and develop the delivery of new and extended housing in remote communities, including planning, pre-construction
through to construction delivery and handover.
2. Undertake inspections, collate information and reports to support the contract Superintendent to ensure compliance with
contract performance and conditions.
- Visit construction sites, liaise with contractors and other stakeholders to monitor and report on progress of housing
construction projects ensuring delivery is timely, within budget and of high quality.
Regularly update relevant data and reporting systems and ensuring a high standard of accuracy is maintained.
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with contractors and stakeholders throughout project lifecycle.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience and knowledge in a field of construction, contract management or project management.
2. Understanding of the building industry in the Northern Territory, preferably in a remote context, with demonstrated
experience project managing construction projects.
3. Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral with an ability to communicate technical information in plain
English.
4. Ability to positively engage with stakeholders in a culturally sensitive manner.
5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, prioritise tasks to achieve multiple outcomes
simultaneously, exercise sound judgement, maintain confidentiality and promote the objectives of the program.
6. Demonstrated ability to respond positively to change with a commitment to ongoing improvement and professional
development.
7. A current NT driver's licence or equivalent, and physical ability to drive 4x4 vehicles for long distances, travel by various means
including by light aircraft, and preparedness to work for short periods in remote communities.
Desirable
1. Qualifications in Project Management.

work closely related to the duties of the vacancy.
