A State Government department is seeking a highly skilled
Senior Accountant
with proven expertise in
SAP
and
IBM TM1
to support financial operations, reporting, and strategic planning. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial management and compliance across the organisation's diverse portfolio.
The
Senior Accountant
will work closely with finance teams, business units, and technology partners to streamline processes, enhance reporting capabilities, and contribute to the department's financial integrity and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements, budgets, and forecasts in accordance with public sector standards
- Utilise SAP for general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Develop and maintain TM1 models to support budgeting, planning, and analysis
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve financial systems and reporting workflows
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, government policies, and audit requirements
- Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic financial decisions
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and variance analysis
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across finance and accounting functions
Candidate Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- CPA or CA certification preferred
- Extensive experience using SAP for financial operations and reporting
- Strong proficiency in IBM TM1 for budgeting and forecasting
- Solid understanding of public sector financial frameworks and compliance requirements
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a complex, fast-paced environment
