Senior Accountant
to become a valued member of the
Aqualand Finance team

About the Role

The
Senior Accountant
will partner with internal stakeholders, establishing and managing all accounting functions. As the sole accountant for the partnering business, this person will handle end-to-end accounting operations, implement a new accounting system, and integrate it with Shopify and inventory systems.

The role will be instrumental in establishing a robust accounting framework, integrating finance systems with Shopify and inventory platforms, and managing all day-to-day accounting and reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and implement a new cloud-based accounting/ERP system (e.g. NetSuite, MYOB Advanced, or Xero).
  • Integrate the accounting system with Shopify and other operational platforms.
  • Manage all accounting operations (AP, AR, GL, reconciliations, month-end reporting, and cash flow).
  • Prepare management and financial reports for the internal partner and Aqualand Group Finance.
  • Liaise with the overseas procurement team in China for supplier invoicing, payments, and landed cost calculations.
  • Manage import/export accounting, including freight, duty, insurance, and foreign currency impacts.
  • Maintain inventory and cost-of-goods records in coordination with warehouse and logistics teams.
  • Prepare data for BAS, GST, and other tax requirements (to be reviewed by Aqualand's Tax Team).
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for management.
  • Conduct all activities according to Group HSE policies & procedures.

About you

  • Strong, hands-on accounting experience across AP, AR, GL, and financial reporting
  • Proven skills with cloud-based accounting systems (NetSuite, MYOB Advanced, or Xero)
  • Familiarity with Shopify or similar e-commerce integration tools
  • Sound understanding of import/export operations, landed costs, and foreign currency transactions
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisation, and communication skills
  • The confidence to work independently and manage a full accounting function
  • A continuous improvement mindset and adaptability suited to a start-up environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • CPA or CA qualification preferred
  • At least 3 years' experience in accounting, ideally within e-commerce, retail, or import/export industries
  • Experience in system implementation or business setup highly regarded
  • Strong Excel and financial reporting capabilities
  • Mandarin language skills (advantageous for liaising with overseas suppliers)
