The Opportunity

We're seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team at the Sydney Head Office, supporting the financial operations of our QLD Construction Division. This is a hands-on role suited to a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working across multiple stakeholders.

What You'll Be Doing

As Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for the full spectrum of financial management and compliance for the QLD construction business, including:

• QBCC Compliance

• Managing trust accounts in accordance with QBCC regulations.

• Ensuring compliance with Minimum Financial Requirements (MFR) reporting obligations.
• Preparing and submitting QBCC financial reports and liaising with external auditors as required.

• Budgeting & Forecasting

• Leading the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.

• Partnering with project managers to ensure accurate cost tracking and financial planning.
• Identifying financial risks and opportunities to support strategic decision-making.

• Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Preparing monthly management reports, variance analysis, and cash flow projections.

• Consolidating financial results and presenting insights to senior leadership.
• Supporting group reporting requirements and intercompany reconciliations.

• Project Reviews

• Conducting financial reviews of construction projects to assess profitability and performance.

• Monitoring job costing, WIP, and contingency releases.
• Ensuring accurate revenue recognition and alignment with accounting standards.

• Tax Compliance

• Managing BAS, PAYG, and other statutory obligations.

• Supporting year-end tax planning and liaising with external tax advisors.
• Ensuring compliance with GST and payroll tax requirements.

About You

We're looking for a confident and capable finance professional who brings both technical expertise and a collaborative mindset. Ideally, you will have:

• Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline

• CPA or CA qualification (or working towards)
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior accounting role, preferably within construction or project-based industries
• Strong understanding of construction accounting, including project costing, WIP, and revenue recognition
• Familiarity with QBCC requirements, trust accounting, and MFR compliance would be advantageous but not essential
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Proficiency in accounting software and Excel; experience with Jobpac or similar systems is a plus
