Sous Chef – Riverstone Estate, Coldstream

Riverstone Estate is a premium Yarra Valley winery, renowned for its breathtaking views, French-style wines, and elegant dining experiences. We are seeking a Sous Chef to support our Head Chef and play a pivotal role in delivering French-inspired cuisine using the finest seasonal Australian produce.

This role is ideal for a chef who wants to take the next step in their career, gaining extensive leadership experience and exposure to both restaurant service and premium events.

About the Role

As Sous Chef, you will:

  • Assist the Head Chef in developing and executing French-inspired, seasonal menus.
  • Take a hands-on leadership role in the kitchen, supervising staff and ensuring smooth operations.
  • Oversee day-to-day kitchen management, including rostering, ordering, and stock control.
  • Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene.
  • Lead sections during restaurant service and high-volume events, including private function.
  • Building and being a part of a cohesive, skilled team.
  • Collaborate with management to balance creativity, guest satisfaction, and profitability.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a premium or fine-dining environment.
  • Passion for French culinary techniques and seasonal Australian produce.
  • Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills.
  • Confidence in managing both intimate dining and events of 50.
  • Keenness to develop operational and creative skills.
