We are seeking an experienced Trades Assistant – Machining / Fabrication to join our Poly/Fabrication team in Neerabup. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude and at least three years of experience operating lathes and working in a fabrication environment.

About the Role

As a Trades Assistant, you will support our fabrication operations by assisting with the manufacture of high-quality components and tooling. You will work alongside qualified tradespeople and take pride in contributing to the safe, efficient, and accurate completion of machining and workshop tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in operating mechanical lathes and associated machinery to manufacture components to specification.
  • Prepare materials, measure and mark out workpieces, and assist with tooling setup.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and follow technical instructions.
  • Perform basic machining, finishing, and inspection using measuring instruments (micrometres, verniers, gauges).
  • Maintain machinery, tools, and the work area in clean and safe condition.
  • Support continuous improvement and workshop efficiency initiatives.
  • Follow all WHS procedures and promote a strong safety culture.

About You

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a machining or fabrication workshop environment
  • Hands-on experience operating lathes and related machinery (essential)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and commitment to precision and quality
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Forklift licence (desirable)
