Flight Training Adelaide (FTA) is a world-class aviation training provider, operating since 1982. With campuses at Parafield Airport (SA) and Wellcamp Airport (QLD), we deliver customised training solutions for both fixed- and rotary-wing pilots. Our Wellcamp campus also provides training for the Qantas Group Pilot Academy.

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Kitchen Hand to join our small, friendly team. This role is essential in supporting our Chefs to provide quality meals for students and staff. Our catering operation services between 150 and 280 people daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks – 365 days a year.

About the role

Reporting to the Head Chef (or Chefs on duty), the Kitchen Hand will be responsible for assisting with food preparation and ensuring the cleanliness and smooth running of kitchen operations.

Key responsibilities
  • Prepare and present fruit trays and tossed salads for lunch and dinner services.
  • Assist with filling drink dispensers, bread, and condiments.
  • Wash dishes, cutlery, pots, and pans.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the dining room, kitchen, storerooms, and cold rooms.
  • Empty and clean garbage bins.
  • Sweep, mop, wipe down, and sanitise surfaces as required.
  • Adhere to the weekly cleaning roster.
  • Carry out other duties as directed by the Chefs.

  • Ability to cope in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to lift to 15 kg regularly.
  • Willingness to wear personal protective gear for most of the day.
