Exciting Contract Opportunity: Digital Asset Management (DAM) Specialist

Location:
Canberra or Sydney (Hybrid)

Contract:
6 months (January – June)

modernising how Australia's most important cultural and historical assets are preserved and accessed.

We're seeking an experienced
Digital Asset Management (DAM) Specialist
to lead the implementation and integration of a new
Fotoware DAM
environment—helping to shape how digital collections are organised, migrated, and made available across platforms.

What you'll do

  • Configure and deploy a new Fotoware DAM instance (on-prem or Azure).
  • Define and document system requirements, technical design, and integration specifications.
  • Integrate the DAM with enterprise systems to enable read-only access and seamless ingest.
  • Align metadata and assets with a
    central data warehouse
    to support unified search and discovery.
  • Design and execute
    data migration
    plans with full validation and testing.
  • Implement robust operational processes for ingestion, error handling, and monitoring.
  • Conduct functional, integration, and security testing to ensure reliability and compliance.
  • Produce detailed
    as-built documentation
    and knowledge transfer materials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise DAM outputs for search and ecommerce experiences.
  • Participate in stakeholder workshops to refine milestones and acceptance criteria.

What you bring

  • Proven experience implementing and configuring
    Digital Asset Management systems
    (Fotoware preferred; Preservica or Mediaflex valued).
  • Strong technical background in
    API-based integrations
    and enterprise interoperability.
  • Deep understanding of
    metadata standards, archival management, and digital preservation
    .
  • Experience deploying and managing systems within
    Microsoft Azure environments
    .
  • Expertise in
    data migration
    strategy, testing, and validation.
  • Familiarity with
    government security and compliance standards
    (ISM, Essential 8).
  • Excellent
    technical documentation and communication
    skills.
  • Experience in
    government, cultural, or collecting organisations
    is a strong advantage.
