Kenny Constructions are seeking a qualified & experienced senior plant mechanic specialist. The role is accountable for the completion of all aspects of maintenance and repairs across a range of plant and equipment. The specialist will ensure that all maintenance and repairs are carried out to ensure the continued safe operation of all plant and equipment. In addition, the successful candidate will need to mentor & coach lesser-skilled technicians and apprentices whilst working on trade-related activities.

DUTIES

· Conducting routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure plant & equipment is functioning correctly.

· Troubleshooting mechanical issues and performing repairs

· Lead maintenance teams and oversee safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

· Collaborate with production teams to schedule maintenance activities

· Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.

· Complies with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.

· Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs

· Train junior staff or apprentices in relevant practical skills

· Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

· Contain costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.

· Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles and ensure compliance with pollution regulations

· Reassembling engines and parts after being repaired

· Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performance

· Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.

· Detecting and diagnosing faults in engines and parts

· Attend to Service and Field calls

Requirements

· Certificate III or similar qualifications

· 10+ years of experience

· Excellent problem-solving skills, communication skills and diagnosing capabilities

· Knowledge about all the systems and components

· Computer diagnostic competence

  • Experience with heavy earthmoving mining equipment

· Can read and understand technical manuals and schematics

· Understand the safety procedures required

· Ability to adapt to working with new technologies and newly arriving vehicle models

· Excellent knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and how to troubleshoot them

· Knowledge of emission standards and testing procedures

· Ability to work in a self-managed environment and lead a team.
