The Accountant position is an integral NightOwl finance team member, working alongside the Financial Controller and other departments to maintain financial records, analyse performance trends, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This is a pivotal role in driving financial excellence and requires a proactive mindset with superior operational expertise and energy to drive continuous improvements that promote strategic financial outcomes.

The role will include but not be limited to:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Completion and management of general ledger reconciliations across all group companies ensuring good governance and control.
  • Oversee BAS / FBT and payroll tax obligations, ensuring the group is compliant in all statutory requirements.
  • Submitting sound, dependable and insightful financial information, including weekly updates, monthly management accounts, cashflow, profit and loss and balance sheet.
  • Ensure the financial and administration support is delivered efficiently and effectively and any improvements identified and acted on.
  • Conduct cost analysis on operational and capital expenses, identifying areas where cost efficiency can be improved.
  • Support the implementation of internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions.
  • Monitor departmental expenses and ensure that all costs remain within the budget, proposing corrective actions where necessary.

The ideal candidate:

  • Degree (Accounting, Finance, Commerce).
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and management accounting practices.
  • Excellent proficiency in Excel.
  • Proven ability to interact with stakeholders from financial and non-financial background.
  • NetSuite experience and exposure to BI systems (highly regarded).
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and comfortable dealing with change, ambiguity, and complexity.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional Qualification (CA/CPA/CIMA highly regarded).
