Position Objective

The Welder will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal products in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements. The role supports workshop and site-based projects as part of the company's production team.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements.
  • Select, clean, and prepare metal stock and consumables for fabrication.
  • Cut, mark, and shape metal sections using hand tools, flame torches, or mechanical cutting equipment.
  • Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand tools, presses, or heat treatment methods.
  • Align and secure components using measuring instruments, clamps, and fixtures.
  • Perform welding using various techniques (MIG, TIG, and stick) to join metal sections, including bolting and riveting where required.
  • Conduct visual inspections of welds for bead width, penetration, and finish quality.
  • Complete finishing processes such as cleaning, grinding, polishing, or acid bathing to meet specification and presentation standards.
  • Maintain compliance with company safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum qualification: AQF Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade) or equivalent, including at least two years of on-the-job training; or at least three years of relevant work experience in lieu of formal qualifications.
  • Demonstrated welding experience within a workshop or construction environment.
  • Sound knowledge of fabrication techniques and safe work practices.
  • Ability to work from detailed technical drawings and maintain high-quality standards.
Employment Conditions
  • Full-time position – minimum 38 hours per week.
  • Base salary $77,000 per annum plus superannuation.
  • Welshpool workshop with occasional site work as required.
