Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced
Principal Scientist
to join our ever-growing data science and optimisation team. The ideal candidate will be a
critical thinker
and
problem solver
with a strong background in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data engineering. You will be responsible for leading complex analytical projects, developing and deploying scalable data science solutions, and mentoring junior team members. This role requires the ability to translate business objectives into measurable technical solutions and communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
The
Principal Scientist
is a senior technical leader responsible for shaping scientific strategy, driving high-impact research programs, and advancing the organisation's scientific capabilities. You will lead cross-functional teams, design and execute complex research initiatives, and act as a subject-matter expert guiding scientific decision-making. This role involves both hands-on research and strategic leadership, ensuring scientific excellence and innovation across projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Scientific Leadership & Strategy
- Set the technical direction
and long-term scientific strategy for a specific research area, aligning it with organizational goals and business needs.
- Identify and champion
innovative research opportunities, emerging technologies, and critical scientific challenges to advance the company's competitive advantage.
- Serve as the primary internal and external technical expert
and consultant, representing the company at major scientific conferences, industry forums, and with key partners/regulatory bodies.
- Drive Intellectual Property (IP) generation
through invention, patent applications, and publications in top-tier peer-reviewed journals.
Research Execution & Oversight
- Design, plan, and execute
highly complex and multidisciplinary R&D projects from concept through feasibility and development.
- Provide senior scientific oversight
and technical guidance to project teams, ensuring the highest standards of scientific rigor, data integrity, and experimental quality.
- Manage significant resources
, including budget, equipment, and personnel, to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Analyze, interpret, and present
complex scientific data and conclusions to senior management, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders.
Mentorship & Team Development
- Mentor and coach
junior scientists, senior scientists, and other technical staff, fostering a culture of scientific excellence, critical thinking, and continuous learning.
- Recruit, develop, and retain
top scientific talent, contributing to the growth and capability of the R&D organization.
- Lead by example
in adherence to safety protocols, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GLP, GMP, regulatory filings).
Required Qualifications
- Education:
Ph.D. in Computer Science.
- Experience:
At least
10+ years of post-doctoral or industry experience
demonstrating progressive scientific achievement and leadership, with at least
3-5 years in a Senior Scientist or equivalent technical leadership role.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas clearly to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.
- Leadership & Influence:
Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and motivate multidisciplinary teams without direct reporting authority.
