About us

We are an Early years education and care service seeking an motivated chef / cook, to work in our busy kitchen.

Rostered hours are Monday to Friday.

Wyndarra children's Centre has been operating for 22 years, we cater for up to 103 children from 6 weeks to 6 years of age. The core of our service philosophy is about building strong relationships with our children, families and staff to ensure that we are providing high quality care.

Qualifications & experience

  • All applicants are to hold the following qualifications and requirements to be considered for this position;
  • Must hold a Food Safety certificate; or Level 2 food handlers certificate. Kitchen and hospitality certificates are beneficial but not essential.
  • Current Working with Children's Check
  • Sound knowledge of the food Safety Act 1984.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment independently.
  • The ability to prepare nutritious meals consistent with the daily dietary needs of the children in care.
  • Have the skills to substitute meals for children with allergies and religious needs.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • The responsibility of the cook is to purchase and prepare nutritious meals for up to 103 children at our early learning service as well as independently manage the kitchen area.
  • You will order and rotate stock for the weekly menus
  • Prepare meals for morning tea, afternoon tea, lunch and late snack daily.
  • Clean and maintain the kitchen area to ensure that food safety standards are met.
  • Complete and keep up to date all paperwork required under the food safety program, and liaise with food safety auditors if required.
  • Liaise with educators, parents to ensure that individual child requirements are being met.
  • Plan for and provide meals for allergy sensitive children.
