About the Department

Austin Health Pathology is a dynamic and growing department within Austin Health, dedicated to delivering high-quality diagnostic services across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. We proudly support Austin Health, the Mercy Hospital for Women, and a wide network of GPs and specialists.

We are currently expanding into the Hume and Loddon Mallee regions, strengthening our presence and accessibility in regional communities through a network of laboratories, collection centers and point-of-care services.

About the role

A regular day will see you:

• Perform routine technical duties in Histology including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, specimen reception and Frozen sectioning as well as other tasks as determined by the senior scientist
• Cytology preparation of gynecological and non-gynecological samples and FNA attendance
• General laboratory tasks such as housekeeping, maintenance, clerical activities, data entry, and specimen transport duties.
• Basic operation includes loading and unloading of automated IHC and Special staining instruments.

About you

To be successful you'll bring with you:

• Certificate or Associate Diploma in Applied Science (Medical Laboratory), a Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Operations, or equivalent.
• Relevant experience and/or understanding of the work performed in an Anatomical Pathology laboratory.
• Ability to prioritise and cope with stressful and emergency situations.
• Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
