About BMD

BMD is Australia's leading integrated engineering, construction and urban development business. As the largest privately owned civil contractor in Australia, BMD is at the forefront of excellence, with a growing international footprint extending to the Philippines and the United Kingdom.

About the Role

BMD Constructions, together with Abergeldie and KBR (as ABK Joint Venture), have secured South East Water (SEW) Integrated Planning and Delivery (IPD) capital works program as part of a milestone 10-year contract.

We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to join our dedicated SEW panel projects team.

This is a pivotal role where you'll lead the implementation of health, safety, and environmental strategies across a diverse portfolio of water infrastructure projects in Melbourne's south-east.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion a proactive safety culture across all project sites.
  • Lead the development and execution of HSE plans, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, client requirements, and BMD's internal systems.
  • Provide coaching and support to project teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Liaise with South East Water and other key stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships.

About You

  • Proven experience in a similar HSE leadership role within civil infrastructure or utilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of Victorian OHS and environmental legislation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Cert IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent).
  • ICAM or similar incident investigation training (desirable).
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for building safe, sustainable workplaces.

Why Join BMD?

  • Be part of a values-driven, Australian-owned company with a strong reputation in the construction and water sector.
  • Work on long-term, community-focused infrastructure projects.
  • Enjoy a supportive team culture and opportunities for career development.
  • Access flexible work arrangements and a range of employee benefits.

We believe our people do their best work when they feel supported, personally and professionally. That's why we offer benefits that go beyond the basics.
