DCS is embracing a progressive shift in workplace adjustments, guided by a new policy that reflects contemporary principles and the social model of disability. This approach recognises disability as a product of environmental and attitudinal barriers, and focuses on creating inclusive, flexible work environments that empower all employees to thrive.  

We're looking for a passionate and experienced leader to establish and manage a new centralised team dedicated to workplace adjustments. This team will provide expert advice and support across DCS, with a focus on complex and escalated requestscases.  

As Team Leader, you'll lead a small team of advisors and play a key role in shaping inclusive practice across the Department. You'll work closely with leaders, and team members and People & Culture colleagues to ensure our people have the support they need to thrive.  

About the Role  
In this newly created leadership role, you will:  

  • Establish and lead a small team of advisors providing consistent, high-quality support on workplace adjustments across the Department.  
  • Oversee complex and escalated casesrequests, ensuring person-centred solutions that reflect best practice in inclusion, accessibility, and workplace adjustments policy.  
  • Champion a proactive, solutions-focused approach that empowers individuals while aligning with relevant legislation and People & Culture guidance.  
  • Build strong relationships across other teams in People & Culture and business areas to embed inclusive practices and remove systemic barriers.  
  • Develop and refine tools, resources, and frameworks to support scalable, sustainable, and consistent adjustment processes.  
  • Monitor trends, risks, and opportunities to inform continuous improvement and contribute to strategic initiatives.  
  • Represent the team in cross-agency forums and contribute to broader inclusion and accessibility efforts across the NSW public sector.  

About You  
You're a confident and empathetic leader with a strong understanding of workplace adjustments and inclusive practice. You bring strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative mindset.  

To be successful, you'll have:  

  • Demonstrated experience in workplace adjustments, disability inclusion, or related advisory roles.  
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.  
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and public sector frameworks (e.g. Disability Discrimination Act, WHS Act).  
  • Ability to manage complex and sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion.  
  • A commitment to equity, accessibility, and continuous improvement.  
  • Lived experience of disability, a background in Occupational Therapy and/or experience in a People & Culture function would be highly regarded, bringing valuable expertise in enabling workplace participation and inclusive practice.

Salary Grade 9/10, with the base salary for this role starting
