We are currently looking for a Safety Business Partner to join our Safety team and proactively support line management with the implementation of the Strategic Safety Plan, the Safety Management System & Safety Leadership, along with providing subject matter expert support to achieve business unit/site specific safety initiatives. This role will be based at Dandenong/ Cranbourne sites with occasional travel to Tullamarine.
The role requires a passion for behavioural safety techniques and a proven ability to drive improved safety performance across all operational areas.
Requirements
As a Safety Business Partner, you'll play a key role in driving safety excellence across multiple operational sites. Your responsibilities will include:
- Safety Strategy & Implementation:
Collaborate with the National Safety Manager and site teams to implement and embed safety systems, plans, and programs that align with corporate standards and legislative requirements. - Stakeholder Engagement & Culture Building:
Build strong relationships with site leaders and operational teams to promote a proactive safety culture. Lead safety forums, celebrate success, and roll out initiatives that enhance awareness and engagement. Performance & Risk Management:
Monitor and improve safety performance metrics (Lag & Lead KPI's), lead incident investigations, and ensure hazards are identified and controlled in a timely manner. Support internal reviews and drive continuous improvement across sites.Compliance & Certification Support:
Ensure documentation, emergency procedures, and site processes meet compliance standards. Assist with maintaining certifications (ISO 9001, HACCP, NHVR) and support obligations under HVNL and Chain of Responsibility.- Operational & Strategic Support:
Provide tools, guidance, and expertise to site teams for safety projects. Contribute to safety planning in tenders and new business implementations & integrations and report key safety activities to senior leadership.
Experience Required
- At least 5 years' experience in a large National or International organisation in a senior safety role.
- Degree/diploma qualification in Health and Safety.
- Proven experience in coaching & developing safety operational teams in a positive and effective manner.
- Strong stakeholder communication, including facilitation of safety committee meetings.
- Proven ability to design and deliver HSEQ training (e.g. inductions, toolbox talks).
- Experienced in delivering task-based risk management activities, training and improvements.
- Generalist knowledge of Work Health and Safety Acts, Regulations and Codes of practice, Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and Chain of Responsibility (CoR).
- ICAM or similar incident investigation training.
- Proven experience in managing internal/external audits & corrective action plans.
