About the opportunity

The University of Tasmania is looking for a people centred professional to join their team as an Online Student Learning Coordinator.

This dynamic role is part of the Student Equity and Success portfolio within the Academic Division - an area dedicated to transforming the student experience through a holistic, integrated approach. Here, you'll help deliver innovative programs, impactful services, and empowering resources that drive student achievement and completion.

As our new Online Student Learning Coordinator, you will contribute to the successful onboarding and academic success of new and continuing students, through the development of innovative online learning experiences.  As part of our widening participation and retention efforts, you will use online programs and other emergent technologies to significantly enhance the way we welcome students to the University and assist their ongoing learning experiences.

You will also support processes that ensure students complete mandatory learning modules designed to help them transition effectively into university life and support safe and welcoming learning environments as well as review data-based trends that indicate student signs of disengagement.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the strategic design, development, and continuous improvement of online learning programs that support student transition, engagement, and retention.
  • Drive innovation in digital pedagogy and learning technologies, identifying and implementing emerging tools (e.g., AI, adaptive learning) to enhance student learning experiences across the University.
  • Oversee the implementation of mandatory student units and support students as needed.
  • Support the Manager, Learning and Academic Skills in our partnership with and strategic direction of the 24/7 online support service (Studiosity) through monitoring uptake, trends and student feedback, and providing advice on its future direction.

What we're looking for:

  •  A relevant tertiary qualification in Education/Education Technology or relevant field, with subsequent workplace application, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and/or training.
  • Proven expertise in leading the design and implementation of institution-wide online learning initiatives, with a strong understanding of digital pedagogy, learning analytics, and inclusive design principles.
  • Experience in supporting student learning development in a range of face-to-face and online environments.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation and presentation skills to relate to colleagues and other stakeholders.
  • Advanced project and change management skills, with a track record of delivering complex, multi-stakeholder digital learning projects on time and within scope.
