About Us:

YSR Smash Repairs is a local, family-owned and operated collision repair workshop servicing the entire south side of Brisbane. Partnering with most major insurance companies, we deliver high-quality, insurance-approved repairs that restore vehicles to original factory specifications using the latest repair technology. Our workshop is equipped with AUTOROBOT and Car-O-Liner computerised measuring and aligning systems, ensuring precise chassis alignment for maximum safety, structural integrity and driving stability. We also use the latest inverter spot welders and MIG welders for both aluminium and steel to meet modern vehicle construction standards.

We are seeking a Motor Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex mechanical diagnostics and repairs on accident-damaged vehicles across all makes and models, including engines, steering, suspension and braking systems.
  • Accurately identify mechanical issues arising from collisions and provide durable, safety-focused repair solutions.
  • Carry out mechanical strip-and-fit work, wheel alignments and safety checks as part of the overall smash repair process.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and documentation in line with insurance requirements and internal quality assurance procedures.
  • Work closely with panel beaters and paint staff to coordinate repair stages and ensure vehicles are returned to pre-accident condition.
  • Assist in mentoring and supporting junior staff and apprentices, and liaise with customers where needed to clearly explain mechanical findings and repairs.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate:

  • Minimum 1 year of full-time experience or equivalent as a qualified mechanic .
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills using scan tools and advanced diagnostic equipment.
  • Sound knowledge of automotive electrical systems and engine management.
  • Ability to work independently and manage complex repair jobs with minimal supervision.
  • Trade qualified or equivalent work experience;
  • Valid driver's license.
  • High level of attention to detail and pride in work quality.
