This role involves working both in-house at our Bibra Lake workshop and on-site across Western Australia's coastal and regional areas, supporting commercial and recreational vessels.

You'll carry out diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on Volvo Penta marine engines and propulsion systems, as well as other leading diesel brands. The role combines hands-on technical work with customer interaction and technical support, representing CPG in the field with professionalism and pride.

As a senior tradesperson, you'll also act as a mentor and role model to CPG apprentices, sharing your knowledge and fostering a culture of technical excellence, safety, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on marine diesel engines and propulsion systems
  • Conduct commissioning, sea trials, and performance testing
  • Support customers in the commercial and leisure marine sectors with field-based maintenance and breakdown assistance
  • Work collaboratively with our workshop and parts teams to deliver timely, quality outcomes
  • Complete detailed service reports, timesheets, and customer documentation
  • Participate in after-hours or emergency call-outs as required

About You

  • Qualified Heavy-Duty or Marine Diesel Mechanic (Australian trade certificate)
  • Proven experience with marine diesel engines, propulsion systems, or auxiliary equipment
  • Volvo Penta experience highly regarded, though not essential
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Able to work independently in the field while maintaining excellent communication with the service team
  • Safety-focused, customer-oriented, and committed to quality workmanship
  • Comfortable working around watercraft and in marine environments

Additional Requirements

  • Full working rights in Australia
  • Current driver's licence
  • Ability to pass a police check and pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
