About the Position:
NSWRL is currently seeking applications for the new position of Area Manager (East Coast) within our Community Rugby League department. This position will report into the Regional Manager and will be based at Coffs Harbour, with some flexibility to consider the role working from Port Macquarie. The role will be responsible for the management of community rugby league clubs and competitions within the NRRRL, Group 2 and Group 3 in North Eastern NSW which covers from Forster in the south to the Tweed River in the North.
The Area Manager will collaborate with stakeholders across the area including clubs, competitions and referee associations to sustain and grow participation within the area in alignment with the NSWRL strategic plan. The role will work closely with the Regional Manager to operationalise the competition strategy in conjunction with Club & Competition Coordinators.
Major responsibilities include:
Leadership of People & Performance:
• Lead and manage Club & Competition Coordinators to maximise productivity, compliance and efficiency.
Planning, Operations Governance & Delivery:
• Develop strategic, operational and financial plans and KPI's for the area and monitor and report on the achievement of planned outcomes.
• Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the area and staff.
• Prepare competition and club health reports, financials and correspondence as required by the Regional Manager.
• Lead the recruitment, retention and education of volunteers.
• Lead the audit process of facilities in the area.
• Analyse reports on Club Health Checks and report regularly on issues of significance to the health of rugby league in the area.
Stakeholder Relationships:
• Develop, foster and maintain robust and collaborative relationships with NSWRL affiliated leagues, officiating associations and other relevant stakeholders.
Operational Support, Stakeholder Management & Governance
• Assist with the development of all relevant club, competition and referee association plans.
• Support the smooth running of competitions including structure, draws and game day operations.
• Plan, implement or assist with representative, matches, carnivals or major competition games in the area.
• Maintain an operations manual detailing local competition rules and policies.
• Liaise with the Government Relations & Infrastructure, Commercial and Communications teams on matters of relevance to the area.
Club and Competition Compliance:
• Conduct club and competition health checks and facility audits within timeframes and report on issues of significance.
• Maintain records for reporting and compliance and education of coaches, sports trainers and other volunteers and ensuring clubs adhere to NSWRL requirements relating to accreditation, registration, child protection and insurance for participants.
• Support the operations of judiciaries and tribunals.
• Provide ongoing advice on NSWRL and whole of game policies.
• Undertake regular club and league visits to develop, foster and maintain robust and collaborative relationships with clubs, leagues, officiating associations and other relevant stakeholders.
About You:
The successful candidate will have experience in:
• Leading successful teams to the achievement of high-performance outcomes.
• Leading and influencing diverse stakeholders.
• Developing and delivering engaging presentations to various audiences.
• Ability to drive and support strategic direction with the contribution to the development of plans, strategies and goals.
• Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
• Rugby league at grassroots level including competitions.
• Community sport with a minimum of 5 years experience (or other relevant experience).
Consistent with the nature of the sporting industry, the successful candidate must be flexible and willing to work weekends, evenings and reasonable additional hours as is required to fulfil the requirements of this position. Remuneration is set in recognition of this requirement.
