About the Role

We're seeking a Team Lead, if successful you will manage the day-to-day operations of IT & geospatial projects within our Brisbane office.

You will be a natural and experienced leader and developer of talent. You will have a passion to foster confidence and knowledge sharing, with a desire to continuously improve and support your team.

This role is vital to the successful delivery of our projects, to ensure they are on time and within budget, while guiding a team of young analysts many of whom are new to the workforce.

This pivotal role is full-time.

Reporting to and supported by the GIS Program Manager, this role combines hands-on delivery with people leadership and project coordination.

You'll support clients across Australia in industries such as transport, utilities, energy, and urban infrastructure. You'll also help ASA uphold high standards of digital data quality and compliance (Client or Discipline Project-specific standards).

As we are a community organisation it is vital that the role connects with our young team, many who are new to these technical roles. Key Accountabilities:

Supported by and reporting to the Program Manager, you will:

  • Coordinate staff recruitment and onboarding.
  • Coordinate aspects of project planning, development, and delivery.
  • Assess and re-prioritise workload and resources based on business needs and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for operational requirements, along with creating and supporting new ideas that will propel the project forward.
  • Manage relationships and deliverables with stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Communicate project status reviews and reports as required.
  • Support professional development for the team.
  • Support onboarding and staff recruitment when required.
  • Perform administrational tasks including rostering, support related to projects.

Experience

  • Operational and leadership experience with proven management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead decision-making in a project-based environment.
  • Experience in proposing and executing operational improvements that aid project performance.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills to engage stakeholders and a diverse team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and Quality Assurance mindset.
  • Capable of adapting to multiple project tools and workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality written documentation and presentations in a timely manner.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
