We're after a chef who cooks from the heart.
Campground Kitchen is a neighbourhood restaurant in Melbourne's west with a love for woodfired cooking, pasta made with care, handcrafted pizza, and a warm, generous approach to service. Born from our award-winning catering company Happy Camper Pizza, our warehouse restaurant is always evolving — and we're looking for a Head Chef to help shape its next chapter.
We're more than just a restaurant. We're a values-led, community-focused business that cares deeply about our team, our customers, and the suppliers we choose to work with. We champion Victorian small-batch producers — from artisan cheese makers to boutique wineries, and feature handmade, quality ingredients that tell a story.
Our food is simple, seasonal, and all about flavour. We let quality ingredients shine, whether it's a slow-braised ragu or a perfect pizza crust. We'd love a chef shares our passion for quality food, thrives on creativity, and is excited to help us grow - bringing new ideas, exploring BBQ and smoker cooking, special dinners, events, and collaborations, and keeping our offering fresh and inspiring.
What the Role Looks Like
Lead the kitchen – Hands-on at the pass, setting the pace and tone
Confident on the pans – Able to run the pass during busy service and jump on a section when needed, including working alongside just a pizza chef during quieter shifts
Menu freedom – Italian-inspired woodfired cooking with room to explore BBQ & smoker dishes
Events & catering – Work with our growing event space and established catering arm
Tight-knit team – Collaborate closely with FOH for smooth, connected service
What You Bring
- Experience in quality kitchens, ideally with pasta and Euro-style menu (we have a strong pizza section to support you)
- No ego, just quality – Food with warmth, generosity, and consistency
- Interest or experience in BBQ/smoker cooking
- Strong catering or events background (valued but not essential)
- Solid kitchen systems: ordering, costings, rosters, HACCP
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (preferred) + Food Safety Supervisor
