The Group operates within the insurance intermediary sector, providing insurance broking, underwriting agency, post claim rehabilitation, investigation, and loss adjusting to small and medium enterprise businesses.

We are on the lookout for a Senior Payroll Officer in this sought after opportunity to join our busy team based in North Sydney on a hybrid basis. Reporting to the Head of Payroll, this position is responsible for managing and executing end-to-end payroll operations to ensure the accurate and timely payment of employees in accordance with legislative requirements, enterprise agreements, and company policies.

The position would see you overseeing payroll processing, reconciliations, reporting, and ensuring compliance with taxation and superannuation obligations.

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with the preparation and processing of payroll to ensure accurate and timely payment of employees. Support the payroll cycle by reviewing transactions, entering data, and maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.
  • Reviewing payroll transactions for accuracy and efficiency. Process payroll adjustments and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with BDO and partner businesses.
  • Distribution of payroll reports to broker partners as required. Perform end-of-cycle payroll balancing and reconciliation of superannuation contributions.
  • Providing accurate and timely payroll advice to broker partners. Liaise with employees, Directors, the Head of Payroll, and BDO to resolve system issues and payroll queries.
  • Providing day-to-day support for payroll systems including KeyPay and Employment Hero. Assist the Head of Payroll in troubleshooting processing issues and act as a backup when required.

We are ideally looking for someone who can bring the following skills to the team:

  • Advanced understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, and leave entitlements across multiple states and awards.
  • Proficient in payroll and HRIS systems, with experience using platforms such as KeyPay and Employment Hero highly regarded.
  • Ability to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies, troubleshoot system issues, and interpret complex payroll scenarios with accuracy and efficiency.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in processing, reporting, and compliance activities.
  • Willingness to contribute to process improvements, system enhancements, and the development of payroll tools and resources.
  • Proficient organisational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to work will under pressure, establish and respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
