Production Chemist

About the Company:

Our client manufactures therapeutic and diagnostic pharmaceuticals and is the only commercial manufacturing facility of its kind in WA. These products are used to support the diagnosis and treatment of various types of diseases.

The company is currently seeking a Production Chemist to join their team in Bayswater on a permanent, full-time basis.

About the role:

This is a rare opportunity for an adaptable, quality-driven individual, with a high attention to detail, to join a dynamic and fast-paced environment as a Production Chemist.

Monday to Friday. Saturday mornings may be required as part of the roster system.

38h per week.

2 weeks NIGHT shift (2:30am starts), one week DAY shift (8am starts) rotations.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Synthesis of pharmaceuticals in a safe, efficient and timely manner.
• Ensuring that the quality of manufactured pharmaceuticals meet GMP standards set out by the TGA.
• Assist in the development of SOPs for pharmaceuticals, equipment, inventory and facilities to meet regulatory requirements.
• Ensure safe, timely and effective completion of work to provide for smooth delivery of pharmaceuticals.
• Accurate shipping and dispatch of pharmaceutical goods by road.
• Ensure consumables, reagents, instruments and supplies are available as required.
• Maintain physical inventory of all materials and accurate records.
• Materials handling that follows waste management procedures, including safe disposal of radioactive and chemical substances.
• Participation in continuous non-viable particle monitoring of cleanroom environments and conducting tests for quality, sterility and purity of compounds.
• Assist in creating new approaches in the synthesis and labelling of novel pharmaceuticals for clinical and research use.
• Developing, maintaining, interpreting and implementing plans, policies and procedures for the day-to-day operations of the facility.
• General customer service with client base.

About you:

• Tertiary qualification in Science
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industry in a similar role.
• Relevant experience working with separation techniques such as HPLC, analytical and/or synthetic organic chemistry.
• Working knowledge of radioactive material handling, ALARA concepts and radiation safety principles would be high advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of TGA cGMP regulatory requirements.
• A radiation license would be highly regarded.
• Strong technical and problem solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

In addition to this, you will have a high attention to detail, be driven and possess strong organizational and time management skills.
