Position Overview:
Sardo Noosa is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef with a strong background in Italian cuisine, particularly Sardinian regional dishes, to join our team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will demonstrate passion for authentic Italian food, excellent culinary skills, and the ability to work effectively in a busy, team-oriented kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and cook a wide range of authentic Italian and Sardinian dishes in accordance with restaurant standards.
- Develop daily specials and contribute to seasonal menu updates.
- Supervise kitchen operations to ensure quality, consistency, and presentation of all dishes.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in compliance with local regulations.
- Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and manage food costs efficiently.
- Train and support junior kitchen staff to maintain consistent culinary standards.
- Collaborate with management to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Minimum of 2–3 years' full-time experience as a Chef in an Italian or Mediterranean restaurant.
- Proven knowledge of traditional Sardinian and broader Italian cuisine, including pasta-making, seafood dishes, and regional specialties.
- Strong understanding of kitchen safety, hygiene, and food handling procedures.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work across different shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
Qualifications:
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent (highly regarded).
- Relevant experience may substitute formal qualifications.
Salary:
$75,000 – $79,900 per annum plus superannuation, depending on experience and qualifications.
