The Opportunity:

This newly created senior leadership role, reporting to the General Manager – Transport, will strengthen support for our Metro Depot Regional Leaders across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. With oversight of a combined workforce of 800+, the role will play a key part in driving performance and profitability across our Metro Transport Depot Operations.

Leading a team of four direct reports, this position offers an exciting opportunity to grow your career while staying closely connected to day-to-day operations. The role can be based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.

Key accountabilities include providing management, direction and guidance to Depot leadership teams to:

  • Develop & sustain excellent operational discipline
  • Undertake quality incident response & investigations
  • Visibly lead safety & environmental management & QA compliance
  • Manage, support, and grow the compatibility of their People (resource planning, retention, turnover, performance management, mentorship/development)
  • Maintain loading, unloading & docking operations
  • Control and manage Depot facilities, equipment & assets (including pallets)
  • Meet DIFOT targets
  • Manage overheads and associated costs (labour & non-labour)
  • Be accountable for profit & loss financial analysis and budgeting
  • Support operational business improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrate behaviours that support the Values of the business

The Person:

This role is a natural successor to the General Manager Transport. This means we're seeking an experienced senior leader with a proven track record within the Transport and Logistics sector. Your ability to inspire large teams across multiple locations and align day to day operations with the broader business strategy and goals will make your application standout. Your expertise in fleet management, warehouse operations and logistics systems will ensure you can capture the right data to drive decisions and improve performance across the operations.
