Finisar Australia is seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our Automation team in Sydney.

Here's what you'll do at Finisar:

  • Integrate innovative automated equipment for manufacturing and testing of cutting-edge optical communications devices
  • Connect automated equipment with our Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to ensure world class standards of traceability and quality
  • Contribute to the development of software specifications for production equipment
  • Liaise with suppliers of components and subsystems to understand the operation and interfaces of their equipment i.e., software drivers and settings to enable the combined components to work seamlessly as a constructed/coordinated rig
  • Adhere to structured software release process

What we are looking for:

Essential:

  • Strong technical ability in the use of NI's LabVIEW with greater than 5 years' experience in programming in this environment
  • Experience in developing software for interfacing to instrumentation
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in signal processing or mathematical analysis
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with people in all levels of the organisation
  • Proven experience with object-oriented programming techniques

Desirable:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Equivalent
  • Experience in programming and selection of vision systems
  • Experience in programming with LabVIEW 2020 or later versions
  • Experience working in a high technology manufacturing environment
  • Experience interfacing to the Beckhoff PLC platform
