About the Role
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Bookkeeper to join our administration team at Family Practice Medical Centres, a leading network of general practice clinics across Queensland and NSW.
In this pivotal role you'll manage and verify daily financial transactions, assist with payroll processing, prepare ABA payment files, reconcile accounts and support accurate financial reporting. You'll work closely with our CFO, Management team and Practice Managers to maintain compliance, streamline processes and uphold the financial integrity of our multi-site medical organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping:
- Enter and verify supplier and customer invoices in accounting software (Xero).
- Prepare ABA payment files for supplier payments.
- Record and verify bank receipts, deposits and payments.
- Reconcile bank accounts and company credit card accurately each month.
- Ensure smooth integration between accounting and clinical systems (e.g. Medical Director/Pracsoft).
- Generate Debtors and Creditors reports as required.
- Communicate promptly with internal stakeholders to resolve account queries.
- Calculate payments for Doctors and prepare monthly schedules and invoices in conjunction with the CFO.
- Support the accuracy of business system integrations and data flow.
Payroll:
- Process fortnightly payroll and ensure accurate Single Touch Payroll (STP) submissions.
- Prepare superannuation for monthly payment and authorisation.
- Manage payroll setup for new employees and maintain up-to-date staff records.
- Assist with PAYG, BAS and payroll tax preparation for review and lodgement.
- Support EOFY payroll finalisation and income statement reporting.
Reporting & Compliance:
- Provide weekly and monthly reports to management.
- Provide Ad Hoc reports as required.
- Ensure compliance with accounting, ATO and Fair Work standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and payroll data at all times.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Bookkeeping/Accounting (or equivalent experience).
- At least 2 years' bookkeeping experience in a professional services or healthcare environment.
- Strong working knowledge of MYOB, Xero or equivalent software (Xero is preferable).
- Sound understanding of GST, payroll and superannuation obligations.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- High integrity and professionalism with confidential information.
Desirable
- Experience with Employment Hero and Medical Director/Pracsoft systems.
- Familiarity with multi-site accounting structures.
