Mayweathers is looking for a talented and self-motivated 1 to 3 year PQE litigator or law graduate who is currently employed in private practice to join our exciting team.

Being a boutique firm, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop, have close client interaction, work closely with your supervising partners and assist in the growth of the firm.

The ideal candidate will have strong drive, enthusiasm, work ethic, communication skills, both written and oral, attention to detail, use initiative, be proactive in all facets of the requirements of the role and welcome and embrace file responsibility but with quality supervision with experienced partners at all times. You will have a typing speed of 75wpm+ and be skilled with LEAP, Microsoft Word and Excel.

You will work closely with partners on challenging litigation in the areas of financial services, banking, securities, insurance, corporate, directors duties, building and construction, professional negligence, commercial litigation and recoveries in District Courts, Supreme Courts and the Federal Court of Australia, as well as in tribunals and ADR mechanisms.

You will also be working closely with partners on major litigation

funded class actions.

Your day to day role will include, amongst other things:

  • working closely with partners on a variety of court and tribunal proceedings for all stages (including providing written advices);
  • drafting pleadings and evidence; and
  • court appearances.

You will also be expected to be competent in the concurrent carriage of a number of different files and be proficient in the technological aspects of private legal practice.
