Location: Brisbane/Perth

We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to join an EPCM Engineering company supporting a large mining project. This role involves working from early design phases through to detailed engineering, contributing to the layout and specification of mechanical systems and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed mechanical designs, 3D models, and technical drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, Inventor).
  • Collaborate with engineers and project stakeholders to define mechanical system layouts and design criteria.
  • Design piping, HVAC, and mechanical equipment systems in accordance with industry standards and project requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and risk evaluations.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure design feasibility and alignment with procurement strategies.
  • Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and bills of materials (BOM).
  • Support site investigations, surveys, and interface with construction teams as needed.
  • Ensure designs meet performance, safety, and sustainability objectives.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within mining, energy, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD and 3D modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ISO, API).
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
