Position Overview:

The Supervisor - Software Developer (fixed term 24 months) shall be responsible for the management and execution of Software development activities within HDA's (Hanwha Defence Australia) Software Engineering team. You will lead a team of Software Developers, in order to perform Software Development tasks and achieve technical outcomes in support of HDA programmes, within an integrated team.

The Supervisor – Software Developer will require knowledge of, and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and the customer's mission and requirements.

Primary Duties:

• Design, implement and maintain the Software elements of the HDA's Electronic Architecture (EA) across all HDA programs.
• Working within the Software Development Life Cycle and adapting modern SDLC processes to suit.
• Implement the AS GVA (Australian Generic Vehicle Architecture) software aspects and the AS LDM (Australian Land Data Model) across all HDA programs.
• Co-chair subcontractor Milestone Reviews, review and approve Software CDRL submissions
• Chair and organize Software Interface Control Working Groups with both Hanwha's subcontractors and the customer to ensure successful integration of Software systems
  • Support the HDA System Safety team by leading HDA's implementation of Software Safety.
• Supporting the integration of Software (including firmware) from HDA and external suppliers (including Approved Subcontractors) into HDA's System Integration Laboratory (SIL).
• Implement systems-security engineering, in conjunction with HDA's platform cyber security team.
• Update and maintain all relevant engineering artefacts (including at the architectural, system, subsystem and component level) in accordance with project activities, including developing Test Plans and Trial Instructions
• Provide technical input and guidance to technical stakeholders and their teams
• Provide technical input to the management and scheduling of technical activities
• Where tasked, act as the owner of a Software deliverable and report on progress against deliverables, proposed activities, risks and issues, and key priorities

• Develop environments incorporating Tools such as Python, RHEL (and open equivalents such as Rocky Linux), KVM and VMWare
• Other duties as required by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

Mandatory:

• Bachelor's degree in relevant Engineering, ICT or Science discipline with relevant industry or domain work experience, or industry and domain work experience equivalent.

Desirable:

• Meets Engineers Australia criteria for Chartered Professional Engineer

Experience:

• Extensive experience on taking ownership of the whole Software cycle, preferably in Land C4I: writing Software requirements, code, CSCI/Unit tests and supporting SW/System integration.
• Extensive experience in: AS GVA, AS LDM, RTI-DDS, C#/.NET, ASP.NET, WPF, DevExpress, CAN, Containers.
• Extensive experience in TDD (Test-Driven Development) and BDD (Behaviour Driven Development)
• Desirable experience in developing Software using GitLab.
• Desirable experience in developing Software running on both Windows and Linux.
• Desirable experience in developing Software running in a System with strong Security, Safety, and Human Factors Engineering requirements.
• Desirable experience in IP Networking/VLANs
• Desirable experience with systems like BMS-C2, BMS-F, AFATDS, DTCS, and C4ISREW.

• Strong knowledge of Software Engineer principles, methodologies, and best practices.
• Knowledge with Defence governance structures and acquisition process.
• Proven ability to effectively manage relationships and positively resolve disputes with internal/external stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
• Working in a team environment with our clients, other engineers and staff in order to ensure the smooth delivery of project requirements.
• Meticulous approach to work, with the ability to identify potential risks and issues proactively. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast paced environment. Ability to work under tight deadlines without compromising quality.
• Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible and adaptability, as you'll be expected to quickly pivot and respond to changing priorities and dynamic work environments.
• Skilled in supporting design reviews, V&V programs, test planning, conduct, and reporting.
