Shine Bright Mental Health is seeking a Senior Mental Health Clinician to deliver high-quality therapeutic services within our brand new Men's Mental Health & Youth Hub in Hervey Bay. This full-time Level 7 position provides trauma-informed individual therapy, SMART Recovery facilitation, youth wellbeing sessions, and clinical support across day-to-day Hub operations. You will work with men of all ages and young males aged 13–24, providing assessment, counselling, safety planning, early intervention for substance use and emotional distress, and supporting participants to engage in ongoing recovery.

The role includes delivering group programs, contributing to service development, undertaking risk assessments, and ensuring best-practice clinical documentation. You will collaborate with our community partners, including Fraser Coast Mates and local youth services, while helping to establish a safe, welcoming and male-friendly environment designed to reduce stigma and increase help-seeking.

About the Role

This full-time Level 7 position provides:

  • trauma-informed individual therapy
  • SMART Recovery facilitation
  • youth wellbeing sessions
  • clinical support across day-to-day Hub operations

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide trauma-informed, evidence-based counselling and therapeutic interventions
  • Deliver SMART Recovery groups (adult & youth)
  • Facilitate youth wellbeing and skill-building sessions
  • Conduct mental health, AOD, DFV and suicide risk assessments
  • Develop and review safety plans and care plans
  • Provide clinical support during weekly walk-in Hub operations
  • Maintain high-quality documentation and clinical governance standards
  • Collaborate with Fraser Coast Mates, youth services, and community partners
  • Participate in service development and contribute to Hub improvement
  • Create a safe, welcoming, male-friendly environment to encourage help-seeking
About the Hub

The Shine Bright Men's Mental Health & Youth Hub is a first-of-its-kind service in Hervey Bay, providing:

  • male-led therapeutic support
  • early intervention
  • youth engagement
  • SMART Recovery (adult & youth streams)
  • community outreach
  • low-barrier, walk-in support

You will help shape this new initiative and play a central role in building a safe, accessible and culturally relevant space for men and young males in the Fraser Coast region.

About You

You will be a clinician who is:

  • passionate about men's mental health
  • comfortable working autonomously in a community-based setting
  • experienced in trauma-informed practice
  • skilled in therapeutic engagement with youth and adults
  • confident in risk assessment and safety planning
  • committed to culturally safe and male-friendly practice

Qualifications required:

  • Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling or OT
  • AHPRA or AASW registration (or eligibility)
  • Current Blue Card, NDIS Worker Screening, National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
