First Nations Digital Content Producer, NITV

This role is classified as Level 3 role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement (with a base salary range of $89,140 - $96,482). The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.

NITV has a distinct identity and unique purpose as part of the SBS network and is primarily produced by, for and about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples; in turn promoting an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures to all Australians.  

NITV first launched as the National Indigenous broadcaster in 2007 and in 2012, became a part of the SBS network – becoming available to all Australians on free-to-air television.  Not only did this improve accessibility for Indigenous people, it made NITV available to all Australians - showcasing the oldest continuous culture on Earth, and in particular facilitating connections with the newest Australians.

The Role

Reporting to Digital Content Lead, Commissions and Production and working closely with NITV content teams this role will:

• Research, pitch, and produce original, culturally appropriate content, including videos (one-off and series), podcasts, features, previews, and evergreen content aligned with SBS and NITV's platform strategies, values, audience needs and technical requirements.

• Undertake and engage in end-to-end production: scripting, interviewing, shooting, editing, and publishing across digital and social platforms including SBS On Demand, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and any other emerging digital platforms.

• Responsible for Script development and coordinating cast to represent diverse Indigenous voices.

• Manage all aspects of shoot logistics: locations, permits, schedules, crews, equipment, and documentation to ensure delivery of high-quality content and timely delivery

• Work cross-functionally with SBS and NITV teams including Digital, Production, Programming, Publicity, and Tech.

• Liaise with internal and external contributors: producers, community stakeholders, talent agents, and digital platforms.

About you

Ideally, you will have:

• Minimum 2–3 years in content production across TV and digital, with hands-on experience in producing, editing, directing or writing.

• Skilled in Adobe Creative Cloud (especially Premiere Pro) and Canva; motion graphics or animation skills are a plus.

• Strong editorial judgment and storytelling skills with a commitment to inclusivity, authenticity, and representing diverse perspectives.

• Deep understanding of YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and SBS On Demand, with knowledge of social trends, content optimisation and publishing best practices.
