Southern Peninsula Basketball Association

The Southern Peninsula Basketball Association (SPBA) is the largest not-for-profit sporting organisation on the Mornington Peninsula. Our objective is to administer the sport of basketball from Mornington to Sorrento. Providing an avenue for its players, coaches, officials and administrators to participate and develop through organised competitions and development programs.

Southern Peninsula Basketball Association represents our members of all skill levels, abilities and ages. We provide a range of services, including competitions, development programs, high performance programs and further development opportunities for our players, coaches, referees, administrators and volunteers. We pride ourselves on our community involvement in the wider Mornington Peninsula region. These services/programs focus on providing development opportunities in a fun, safe and engaging environment. SPBA operates across multiple venues across the Southern Peninsula.

Southern Peninsula Basketball Association is governed by a Board of Management primarily elected by the members and it holds affiliation with Basketball Victoria.

Purpose

The SPBA employs Customer Service Officers and Canteen Attendants which work alongside each other to deliver our game days for our community.

Customer Service Officers (18yo+) are the face of the Association on game days and are responsible for the successful delivery of our ongoing programs and competitions. This role plays a critical role in being the first point of contact for many member queries during competitions hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the first point of contact for member queries during competition times.
  • Set up and pack up venue for competitions and programs.
  • Check venue for Occupational Health and Safety issues.
  • Take money for game fees, pro shop and canteen.
  • Reconcile money.
  • Work in canteen as required.
  • Any other tasks as reasonably set by the Competitions Manager or Basketball Operations Manager.

Canteen Staff (18yo+ preferred) are responsible for the during shift operations of the canteen. This role includes preparation and service of hot foods, coffee, and other basic food items, ensuring a high standard of food safety and customer service, and overseeing and assisting volunteers.

Training and certifications in coffee and food handling can be provided to the right candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve hot food items according to menu requirements.
  • Operate coffee making equipment to provide high-quality coffee beverages.
  • Perform basic food preparation tasks such as hot food. Ensure all food items are prepared and served in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and service area.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular checks to ensure food storage and preparation areas are maintained at required hygiene standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels.
  • Manage the receipt and storage of supplies.
  • Reduce waste and manage food costs effectively.
  • Provide excellent customer service and address customer inquiries and concerns promptly.
  • Handle cash transactions and manage the point-of-sale system.
  • Prepare daily sales reports and ensure accuracy in financial transactions.
  • Any other tasks as reasonably set by the Retail Administrator or General Manager
Availability

We are seeking person/s who are available for one of or any of the below shifts:

  • Monday night
  • Wednesday night
  • Thursday night
  • Friday nights (November - July)
  • Saturdays during the day
  • Saturday evenings (Oct-Dec + Feb-July)
  • Sundays (occasional)

Venues include: Dromana, Rosebud, Sorrento

  • Proven experience in food service management or a similar supervisory role.
