About the role
The role of the Senior Project Manager is to lead and inspire our delivery teams to achieve exceptional customer and organisational outcomes. You are expected to own your projects end to end and drive cross-functional delivery. This role involves advanced critical thinking, planning, directing and communicating to achieve the delivery of projects to satisfy business and portfolio objectives.
We are looking for a Senior project manager with personal identifiable information (PII) experience is needed to lead project(s) that involve handling sensitive data, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations, and implementing robust data governance / security measures. This role demands expertise in data management, a strong understanding of legal and regulatory requirements, and the ability to collaborate effectively with IT, legal, and matrixed teams across the enterprise to safeguard sensitive information throughout the project lifecycle under the wider compliance program
Location: Melbourne or Parramatta based | 12 months Fixed term contract, multiple roles
In this role you will:
- Lead and inspire project teams to define and deliver complex and large projects (up to $10 million) across the entire lifecycle while being cognizant of the complexity, cost, urgency, risk, and stakeholder value
- Build strong relationships and actively collaborate across functions to support the achievement of objectives with clear and upfront mutual expectations, including with business customers.
- Demonstrate proactive and modern ways of working using tools and techniques to achieve high productivity within a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Define project scope, success criteria and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders, accurately interpreting ideas, information and needs
- Implement effective governance for project tracking and reporting to ensure timely and appropriate decision making.
- Proactively manage variance and change requests within control mechanisms and plan, control and monitor costs and outcomes to ensure they meet financial objectives.
- Engage/inspire the project team, delegating appropriately, providing clarity, direction and attention, and maintaining a collegiate and productive work environment while holding the team accountable to meet commitments.
- Collaborating with IT, legal, and data protection teams to ensure all parties are aware of and comply with data security guidelines. Leading wider forum working groups to provide drive synergies across communication & regulatory compliance needs.
- Identifying and mitigating risks related to data breaches and privacy violations.
- Staying current with and ensuring adherence to all applicable legal and regulatory frameworks for data protection.
- Proactively building data privacy requirements into project plans, from initiation to deployment.
- Overseeing phases such as design, development, testing, and deployment of systems that handle PII, Inclusive of vendor mgmt.
- Comply to broader organisational governance requirements for reporting and tracking purposes
Manage Risks and Issues with documentation, to ensure achievement of the best outcomes possible.
What You will bring in the role to be successful:
- 12+ years' experience in project management of large and complex projects/programs with experience within financial services, preferably (non-essential) in superannuation, wealth and/or insurance.
- Previous hands-on experience with data implementation, data migration or data governance projects a must
- Understanding how to manage, secure, and interpret data, especially sensitive information
- Awareness of relevant data protection laws and regulations (e.g., APRA CPS230, APPs, GDPR, CCPA, etc)
- Ability to bridge the gap between project teams and technical or legal experts.
- Highly developed skills in planning, risk & issue management, stakeholder management and governance
- Strong core PM disciplines - time, cost, scope and quality
- Proactive and dynamic leadership skills and capability to lead multiple teams across diverse platforms
- Excellent organisational skills - can quickly and effectively mobilise time, budget and resources (clients and project team members) to meet requirements
- Excellent, clear and precise written communication and formal documentation
Ability to build rapport, credibly and effectively at all levels.
