Works Assistant – (Project Quality Rep) | Bridge Crew
Location: Wagga Wagga, NSW
Pay Rate: $46.79 per hour Super Overtime Allowances
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 6 months with a strong possibility of extension
Hours: 76 hours per fortnight (9-day fortnight structure, occasional 10-day fortnight may be required)

About the Role Transport for NSW is seeking a dedicated Works Assistant to join our Bridges Team. This role is perfect for someone with strong practical skills, a team-focused mindset, and the flexibility to travel and work away from home as part of a mobile road maintenance crew.

The role involves carrying out advanced non-trades functions under limited supervision, with responsibility for the quality completion of assigned tasks. You'll support operations through hands-on work, problem-solving, and ensuring high safety and compliance standards are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of advanced non-trades duties independently or in a team.
  • Complete assigned tasks to set quality and safety specifications.
  • Apply sound judgement to solve routine problems using guidelines and manuals.
  • Participate actively in team processes and continuous improvement discussions.
  • Provide on-the-job guidance and training to other team members as needed.
  • Maintain WHS standards and comply with legal and organisational requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with the public, team members, and external stakeholders.
  • Use computer systems to support work processes.
Essential Requirements
  • Construction Industry White Card
  • Current WOF (Workers on Foot) ticket or willingness to obtain before commencement
  • Current Class C driver's licence (or higher)
  • Ability to work in close proximity to traffic and perform manual labour
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Willingness to work extended hours, travel, and stay away from home regularly
  • Sound computer knowledge
Additional Information
  • This role requires regular camping away from the Wagga Wagga Depot. Accommodation and relevant allowances will be provided while working away.
  • When based at the Depot, candidates must source their own accommodation. Options can be discussed with the right candidate.
