POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate should have relevant experience with Autodesk Inventor and Vault software, and a strong background in mechanical design and engineering principles, particularly in the design of pressure vessels per ASME and AS1210 codes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop detailed mechanical designs and drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Manage and control the life cycle of design data using Autodesk Vault.
  • Prepare BOM and maintain them using Autodesk Vault PDM.
  • Design pressure vessels in compliance with ASME and AS1210 codes.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including BOMs, change requests, and ECO.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including BOMs, assembly instructions, and maintenance manuals.
  • Carry out and review Engineering calculations to ensure they are consistent with SMARDT's design intent and the applicable codes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues during the manufacturing process.
  • Provide assistance to production related to design and BOM-related queries.
  • Carry out classical engineering calculations and generate calculation sheets.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

To be successful in this role you will:

  • A minimum of bachelor's degree is required in Mechanical Engineering (essential).
  • Experience with Inventor and Vault PDM is highly preferred.
  • Experience with ASME and AS1210 Pressure Vessel Codes is essential.
  • Experience with ASME (UHX) and TEMA for pressure vessel and heat exchanger design.
  • Experience in a similar role (minimum 1 year) is essential.
  • Knowledge of FEA, CFD, and PV Elite (or similar PV calc software) is a plus.
