Clinical Assistant

Oral Facial & Implant Centre is a well-developed medical specialist practice seeking to appoint a Clinical Assistant/Dental Nurse on a part- or full-time basis. (days to be agreed with the suitable candidate)

The successful applicant will be representative of dynamic individuals who enjoy working within a fast-paced specialist medical practice. The suitable candidate will be a key team member and responsible for assisting Dr Webster clinically in theatre and practice environments and working collaboratively with the clinical and administration teams to deliver high quality customer service to our patients. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside Dr John Webster one of the most contemporary Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in Australia.

Responsibilities:

The clinical and reception teams work interactively and maintain responsibility for day-to-day clinical and reception duties within the practice. As a member of the team is it important to implement practice processes accurately as you are the main resource for patients from the first point of contact, assisting with clinical duties through to follow-up of patients, hence high-quality customer service skills are vital.

Core functions (in conjunction with team members):

• Responsible for day-to-day clinical assistant and administrative duties (training to be provided)

• Demonstrated assisting skills and infection control protocols - theatre and/or local anaesthetic procedures

• Able to act independently and make accurate decisions with exceptional focus on attention to detail. Well-developed grammar, spelling and writing skills is a requirement for the role.

• Demonstrate positive team member skills with capacity to work with others within a professional medical specialist and/or theatre environment

• A sound knowledge base of dental based procedures

• Work with all team members in undertaking clinical and administration duties including preparation of patient information for surgery, 3D oral scanning, prepare and assist with Local Anaesthetic procedure days, clinically assist in hospital theatre sessions with Dr Webster, and ensuring patients have all required information in preparation for procedures/surgery (in accordance with the position description -full training may be provided)

• Responsible for consumable stock - ordering process

• Responsible for drafting correspondence for Medical Specialist review (if required, training to be provided)

• Function in a highly organised and time efficient manner at all times

Required skills/experience:

• Well-developed experience working in/assisting within a busy hospital/dental/medical practice - Cert III or Cert IV OR similar an advantage but not a requirement

• Willing to participate in practice processes for successful implementation

• Sound knowledge base of dental anatomy

• Demonstrates outstanding people skills with the ability to relate well to patients, health care professionals/external health facilities

• Must have the ability and personality to work in a fast-paced environment

• Demonstrates a high level of motivation with a positive 'can do' attitude

• Understanding of medical/dental terminology is desired
