We are seeking a motivated, organised, and detail-oriented Technical Officer to join our Almond Breeding Program. This role is central to supporting world-class research that drives the development of improved almond varieties for Australia's rapidly expanding horticultural industry.

As a valued member of a dynamic and collaborative breeding team, you will contribute to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of almond breeding trials, supporting both field and laboratory activities. You enjoy both field and laboratory work, have a keen eye for detail, and thrive working both independently and as part of a team dedicated to research excellence.

To be successful you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience with tree crops (e.g., almonds, other nuts, fruit-bearing trees) and plant breeding programs, including phenotyping and data collection
  • Proficiency in managing field trials and conducting laboratory procedures (e.g., tree assessments, DNA extraction, genotyping).
  • Skilled in utilising statistical software and analysis tools for interpreting research data.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote the organisational values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery, and a commitment to positively comply with the associated behaviour expectations.
