We are seeking a Senior Technical Officer to coordinate the Teaching Unit within the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine, based at our Waite Campus. This is a pivotal role that supports the delivery of high-quality, hands-on education in one of Australia's leading institutions for agricultural and wine science.

As a key member of the Technical Services team, the Senior Technical Officer will lead the coordination of practical teaching activities within the School. This includes overseeing the daily operations of multiple teaching laboratories and ensuring the smooth and effective delivery of practical components for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. You will be responsible for organising the scheduling and preparation of teaching sessions, managing the procurement of consumables, and ensuring that laboratory equipment is maintained to a high standard.

In this role, you will work closely with academic staff to support curriculum delivery and ensure practical classes are well-coordinated and appropriately resourced. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of teaching infrastructure and assets and ensuring that all activities are carried out in compliance with relevant HSW policies and legislative requirements. To be successful you will need:

  • Significant experience coordinating dynamic and busy teaching laboratories with a broad knowledge of Agricultural Science disciplines, including Wine Science, Agricultural Sciences, Food Technology and Soil Science.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain laboratory equipment and facilities to a high standard.
  • A demonstrated ability to contribute to laboratory-based teaching, particularly for large class sizes.
  • High level verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop key relationships with a diverse range of staff and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure with competing priorities and deadlines
